Nutella & Bacon Waffles

Bacon?, Yes! Siempre (always).....Nutella?....ummm not so much!......  Not really sure why?

Every since I can remember I've had a very strong aversion for Nutella. I guess I've just contributed it to my label as a very picky eater, who is super cautious about trying new things.

It could also be that I have as strong allegiance to peanut butter, eating the creamy whipped version of another nut just never felt right.

After all peanut butter has been a good friend to my jam, el mejor amigo (the best friend )to my choco-la-tey  and it's never let me down!

That is until the day that mis dos chicas aventureras ( my two adventurous girls) arrived from school refusing their standard  pb &j

insisting that I slather Nutella on their afternoon sandwich.

Finally I was cara a cara (face to face) with the" something new" I had happily avoided for so long. And once I finally gave it a try....Que sorpresa!

It was surprisingly pretty good!  ...........And just as I was just coming to terms with eating Nutella from my fingers, las chicas chimed in again with what they said was a " super delicious breakfast idea".

Grinning from the breakfast table they said....How about Nutella & Bacon Waffles?!......

I paused for a minute smiled at them and said "sounds good to me!"

Vamos a la cocina!

Ingredients

1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 cups warm milk
1/3 cup butter, melted

1.In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; set aside.  Also at this time you can combine your churro topping and set it aside. Preheat waffle iron

       2.In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Stir in the milk, butter and vanilla. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture;

       3.  Place 5 tablespoons of Nutella in a shallow microwable dish and heat until slightly pourable, just enough so that it will ease out the dish but not total liquid.

     4. Next generously spray your waffle iron with a non- stick cooking spray. Than ladle the batter into a preheated waffle iron. Allow the waffles to firm up in the iron for about 30 seconds with iron lid open, sprinkle on maple bacon crumbles, than swirl on melted Nutella. After approx. 30 seconds close lid and cook the waffles until golden and crisp (be careful not to let the Nutella burn).

      5. Optional :Once waffle is cooked and still warm slather on more Nutella from the jar.

Now it's time to enjoy la fruta (fruit) of your labor!

Latin Elvis S'mores

I have to admit it's pretty random but....I have become super intrigued with Elvis Presley.

I'm honestly not really sure why, but I think it has a little to do with a Elvis Presley cookbook that I scored at a local flea market for $1.00!

Obviously there is nothing new about Elvis, I mean I've heard plenty stories about 1,000's of lovely muchachas standing outside of Graceland just to get a peek at him,

I've heard the song "Blue Suede Shoes" more times than I really want to admit to......

and who can forget the millions of videos showing him in his white bell buttoms, freshly appointed side burns and his girating hips!
Up until that one dia  (day) when I scored the deal for his cookbook all of that just gave me a vague idea of who he was.....but now,

Now I realize that Elvis Presley is SUPER GUAPO and has an awesome taste for food!

I mean as a certified junk food junkie, who could deny a man who loved: crispy fried chicken, ham bone dumplings, bbq bologna and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with fried bacon in between ( Fools Gold Loaf Sandwich) as it's really called!

So I'd like to think that these Latin Elvis S'mores would be something El Rey (The King) would crave...

C'mon anything stuffed with fluffy marshmallows, layers of chocolate, a creamy lake of Latin caramel stuffed between two crisp Graham Crackers in my eyes are definitely the type of ooey gooey cookie goodness fit for a "King"!

Vamos a la cocina!

Ingredients

6  whole graham crackers
1 bag of mini marshmallows
2 ripe bananas
1 bottle of squeezable dulce de leche  I used Lechera
3 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars
1 jar of your favorite Peanut Butter ( I adore Skippy!)

Directions

I'm not big into using fire to warm and melt my S'mores so I just take a cookie sheet and do the following:

1.Split graham crackers into 2 halves, slice your bananas and set them aside.

2. On top of graham cracker spread on a layer of peanut butter and place on the mini-marshmallows and banana slices.

3. Place bottom half of your S'mores under broiler for a few seconds until toasty. Remove and place 1/2 of a Hershey bar on top of marshmallow and drizzle with the dulce de leche ( if you want the dulce de leche to be warm, you can drizzle it on before it is put into the oven.

4.The heat from the marshmallow will melt the chocolate bar. (If you would like it a little more melty you can always place it back into the broiler for a few extra seconds.

5. Now place other 1/2 of graham cracker on top of all your goodness. Press lightly to flatten marshmallows.

Now sit back...take a bite, and Bienvenidos (Welcome) to S'mores Heaven!

500 Grand Brownies

Follow Me on BlogLovin

Well actually these are made from 100 grand chocolate bars, not 500 ( don't worry the story behind why they are 500 instead of 100 is on the way!)

If you've never tried one they are crispy bars of smooth caramelly,  (pretty sure this is not a word...but they are that good!) chocolaty deliciousness.

They are everything that makes my mouth Super Feliz! (happy)  You know what else made me Super Feliz ?!  Reaching 500 likes on Facebook last week , I was so excited that I decided to celebrate with a chocolate fiesta!

So in honor of my awesome fans I made you guys these chocolate brownies filled and sprinkled with super rich 100 grand bars....

oh and did I forget to tell you I slathered them with fudge frosting and warm dulce de leche!

Oh yeah, the story behind the name.......

I named them 500 grand bars in honor the 500 super awesome people who like my yumminess so much that they want immediate updates via their news feeds!

Definitely seemed appropriate for the occasion but in all honesty I used so many 100 grand bars that a more realistic title would be 2 million grand bars!.....

but hey it's a celebration, so who's counting!

Gummy Bear S'mores

Follow me on Blog Lovin

Habia una vez......(Once Upon a Time there were dos little chicos who loved to make S'mores.

They loved to make them so much, they begged and begged to make them every day!  Los dos chicos loved to make the S'mores almost as much as they loved to eat the S'mores.

One early mañana el chico mas pequeñito ( the smallest boy) even asked his mami if he could eat some of his favorite S'mores for breakfast!

Por supuesto , No! said the mami. You must eat something packed with vitmains and minerals to give you mucha fuerza !( a lot of strength) said la mama.
That's when el chico mayor ( the oldest boy) said.." how about gummy bears"!  La mama shook her head and there is no need to tell you what she said.

But as the day went on she couldn't help but think about her S'mores loving, gummy bear adoring sons......and that's when she had an idea! ......All of a sudden visions of Gummy Bear stuffed S'mores danced in her head.

She had brought the niños two loves together as one!

After that los chicos dos and their graham cracker, marsmallowy, chocolaty rainbow bear stuffed sandwiches lived happily ever after! ( But only at dessert time!) The End!

Asi es la vida, That's Life!

Sometimes in life you get little hiccups that take you away from your normal day to day routines. Often times they aren't expected and you never see them coming.

When these moments happen you have no choice but to reorganize and reprioritize and in the middle of getting things back to normal you may have to put things that you really love on hold. That's exactly what's happened to me, and as much as I love my blog and it is absolutely killing me not to be able to bring you all the yumminess that's in my head.

Right now  I'm still in the middle of reconstruction but I promise you that the things I have been dreaming of making are exactly what dreams are made of......literally!

can't tell you exactly when I will be able to return to the sweeter side of things, but I promise it won't be too much longer. In the meanwhile, although I'm not able to entice you with all my dulce (sweet) please believe that I have all intentions of pumping your veins full of sugary goodness when I return!

Until then please stick with me, and keep checking back often I promise it will be worth the wait.......if you guys leave me now I would miss you all so much!

How is chocolate not considered a drug?  I mean it's truly the only thing I crave constantly yet lack self- control to resist !

but the result is me waking up in a night sweat 3 hours later  and endulging in 3 times the amount of chocolate I originally wanted just to make up for the time my body spent deprived of it while I was sleeping.
